Pet Lovers
You don't need a pet to change a pet's life.
You stop for every dog on the street. You know the neighbourhood cats by name. You'd have one of your own, if the travel, work or life allowed it. Tailmate was built with you in mind, and it needs you more than you think.
Why you matter more than you think
Tailmate is neighbours looking after each other's animals. It only works when someone has free time and loves pets. That's exactly why owners need help.
You have the one thing they can't buy: a genuine soft spot for animals. Every hour you give is a dog that wasn't left alone in a flat, a cat fed on time, an owner who could say yes to the hospital shift or the weekend away.
And for you? A beagle on Tuesday, a shy rescue cat next week, a golden who thinks you're the best thing that ever happened. All the joy of pets, none of the vet bills.
The pledge
Every hour you give, Tailmate gives 10 cents.
Here's how it works. You spend an hour with a neighbour's pet. The owner confirms it. Tailmate then sends 10 cents of its own money to a partner shelter, in your name. Not from your pocket, from ours. Your part is the hour. The money is on us.
Say you take care of a dog 6 hours a day, twice a week. About 12 hours a week.
$1.20
every week
$5
every month (up to 50 hours)
$60
every year, to a shelter, in your name
Sixty dollars a year to a pet rescue, and you never opened your wallet. You just spent time with pets you would have loved to spend time with anyway.
Alone, a dime. Together, a difference.
Look at one hour on its own and it can feel like nothing. Now do the math from the cards above with a hundred Pet Lovers instead of one. A hundred times $60 is $6,000 a year for shelters. A thousand Pet Lovers would be $60,000. None of them spent a cent; they spent afternoons with dogs.
Tailmate's shelter fund is $250 a month this year and is reviewed as the community grows. The bigger the community, the bigger the impact. That's the whole idea.
How it works
01
Create your free profile
Tell us what you love, dogs, cats, small animals, and when you're free.
02
Meet first, always
Owners nearby reach out. You meet them and their pet before any sit.
03
Hours become Impact Hours
After each sit the owner confirms the time. Every hour sends ten cents to a shelter.
Impact Hours are a record of your time, not money or points. They can't be spent, cashed or traded. The donation is Tailmate's, made in your name, up to 50 hours per person each month. Read the full pledge
Somewhere near you, a dog is waiting for a walk.
And a shelter is counting on the hours you haven't given yet.
